Cat Number: 92122ES

β-NGF

Source
HEK293 Cells
Synonyms
NGF; ngf; beta NGF; beta-NGF; HSAN5; NGFB
Description
Nerve growth factor (NGF) was composed of three non-covalently linked subunits, alpha, beta, and gamma. The human protein shares approximately 90% homology at the amino acid level with both the mouse and rat beta -NGF and exhibits cross-species activity. NGF is a well-characterized neurotropic protein that plays a critical role in the development of sympathetic and some sensory neurons in the peripheral nervous system.
Molecular Weight
Approximately 24.8 kDa.

Appearance
Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
Purity
> 95% by SDS-PAGE.
Biological Activity
Measured in a cell proliferation assay using TF-1 human erythroleukemic cells. The ED50 for this effect is typically 5-20 ng/mL.
Endotoxin
< 1.0 EU per 1μg of the protein
Formulation
Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered concentrated solution in PBS, pH 7.4. Normally 5 % - 8 % trehalose, mannitol and 0.01% Tween80 are added as protectants before lyophilization.
