General Description
Amcinonide is a fluorinated potent topical corticosteroid of the glucocorticoid class, distinguished by enhanced anti-inflammatory potency due to fluorination at the 6-alpha and 9-alpha positions.
Mechanism of Action
Amcinonide binds cytosolic glucocorticoid receptors and the resulting complex translocates to the nucleus, where it induces anti-inflammatory proteins such as lipocortin-1 while suppressing pro-inflammatory cytokines and prostaglandin synthesis.
Application
Used in the treatment of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses. Amcinonide is indicated for psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, and lichen planus requiring high-potency topical therapy.
