General Description

Oxprenolol Hydrochloride is a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor blocker with intrinsic sympathomimetic activity of the aryloxypropanolamine class. It blocks both beta-1 and beta-2 receptors while partially activating them.

Mechanism of Action

Oxprenolol competes with endogenous catecholamines for beta-adrenergic receptor binding, reducing heart rate and myocardial contractility. Its intrinsic sympathomimetic activity provides partial receptor activation, preventing excessive bradycardia.

Application

Used in the treatment of cardiovascular disorders. Oxprenolol Hydrochloride is indicated for hypertension, angina pectoris, cardiac arrhythmias, and anxiety-related cardiovascular symptoms.
