General Description
Nandrolone Phenpropionate is an anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) featuring nandrolone (19-nortestosterone) esterified with phenylpropionic acid, which produces a moderately long-acting injectable preparation with enhanced anabolic relative to androgenic activity. The phenylpropionate ester attachment slows the release of nandrolone from the injection site, providing sustained blood concentrations for approximately 7-10 days.
Mechanism of Action
Nandrolone Phenpropionate binds to the androgen receptor (AR) with lower affinity than testosterone but exhibits a longer receptor dissociation half-life, contributing to its sustained anabolic effects. It promotes nitrogen retention, increases protein synthesis, and stimulates erythropoietin production in the kidneys. Unlike testosterone, nandrolone does not undergo 5-alpha reduction to a potent androgen in androgenic tissues, resulting in a reduced incidence of androgenic side effects such as male pattern baldness and prostate hyperplasia.
Application
Nandrolone Phenpropionate is used in the treatment of anemia secondary to chronic renal failure (as an adjunct to erythropoietin therapy), severe catabolic states, and osteoporosis.
