General Description

N6-Trifluoroacetyl-L-lysinine N-Carboxyanhydride is a reactive lysine NCA where the side-chain amine is protected by a trifluoroacetyl group, ensuring regioselective polymerization.

Mechanism of Action

It allows for the synthesis of protected poly-L-lysine. After polymerization, the trifluoroacetyl groups can be removed under mild basic conditions to yield water-soluble, cationic polylysine chains.

Application

It is a critical component in the development of non-viral gene delivery systems and cell-adhesive scaffolds in tissue engineering.
