General Description

Hexylcaine Hydrochloride is an ester-type local anesthetic of the aminobenzoate class characterized by rapid onset and short duration of action.

Mechanism of Action

Hexylcaine reversibly blocks voltage-gated sodium channels in nerve fiber membranes, preventing the rapid sodium influx required for action potential generation and propagation, thereby producing local anesthesia.

Application

Used for surface and infiltration anesthesia. Hexylcaine Hydrochloride is indicated for mucosal surface anesthesia in oral and otolaryngological procedures requiring brief, rapid-onset anesthesia.
