General Description
Factrel, also known as gonadorelin hydrochloride, is a synthetic decapeptide gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) identical in structure to the naturally occurring hypothalamic peptide. It is formulated as the hydrochloride salt and consists of the sequence pGlu-His-Trp-Ser-Tyr-Gly-Leu-Arg-Pro-Gly-NH2.
Mechanism of Action
Factrel binds to GnRH receptors on anterior pituitary gonadotroph cells, stimulating the synthesis and secretion of both luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). This gonadotropin release stimulates gonadal steroidogenesis and gametogenesis within the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis.
Application
Indicated for the evaluation of hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal function and in reproductive endocrinology diagnostics. Factrel is a synthetic GnRH identical to native hypothalamic hormone, used to assess pituitary reserve capacity and diagnose gonadotropin deficiency in infertility workups.
