General Description
Diflorasone Diacetate is the 17,21-diacetate ester of diflorasone, a synthetic halogenated corticosteroid. It is classified as a very high potency glucocorticoid due to the combination of difluoro substitution at C-6 and C-9 and the diacetate esterification, which enhance receptor binding affinity and skin penetration.
Mechanism of Action
Diflorasone Diacetate binds to intracellular glucocorticoid receptors and the resulting complex modulates transcription factor activity (AP-1, NF-κB) to suppress inflammatory gene expression. This reduces production of pro-inflammatory mediators including prostaglandins, leukotrienes, and cytokines in target tissues.
Application
Indicated for the treatment of inflammatory and pruritic dermatoses requiring very high potency corticosteroid therapy. Diflorasone Diacetate is classified as a Class I (super-high potency) topical corticosteroid with difluoro substitution and diacetate esterification that maximize receptor binding and skin penetration.
