General Description
Dextroamphetamine Adipate is the adipate salt of the dextrorotatory isomer of amphetamine, classified as a central nervous system stimulant. The dextro isomer produces stronger central stimulant effects with fewer peripheral cardiovascular effects.
Mechanism of Action
Dextroamphetamine promotes release of dopamine and norepinephrine from presynaptic storage vesicles and inhibits their reuptake, increasing catecholamine concentrations in the prefrontal cortex, enhancing attention, focus, and wakefulness.
Application
Used in the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and narcolepsy. Dextroamphetamine Adipate is indicated for ADHD in children and adults, and for managing excessive daytime sleepiness in narcolepsy.
