General Description

Colfosceril Palmitate is a synthetic pulmonary surfactant whose primary component is dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine. It mimics the natural pulmonary surfactant essential for reducing alveolar surface tension.

Mechanism of Action

Colfosceril Palmitate adsorbs to the air-aqueous interface of alveoli, forming a monomolecular film that reduces surface tension during expiration, preventing alveolar collapse and improving lung compliance and gas exchange.

Application

Used in the treatment of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome. Colfosceril Palmitate is indicated for prevention and treatment of RDS in premature infants with surfactant deficiency.
