General Description
Ceruletide Diethylamine is a synthetic decapeptide analog of the gastrointestinal hormone cholecystokinin. It stimulates gallbladder contraction and pancreatic enzyme secretion.
Mechanism of Action
Ceruletide agonizes cholecystokinin A receptors in the gallbladder and pancreas, stimulating gallbladder smooth muscle contraction and relaxation of the sphincter of Oddi while promoting pancreatic enzyme and bicarbonate secretion.
Application
Used in diagnostic evaluation of gallbladder and pancreatic function. Ceruletide Diethylamine is indicated for cholecystography, pancreatic function testing, and treatment of postoperative intestinal atony.
